OK, so your 5 year old needs a humidifier because he's got a new cough, your 3 year old has a runny nose, and your 1 year old needs to have have her antibiotic refilled and you just happen to run out of diapers at the wrong time. You're in Kirkland and it's 2:30 in the morning, what do you do? Walgreens to the rescue! Yup, this is a one stop, 24-hour stop for all of the those things and if you didn't like to wait in the store for all those medications, you can go across the parking lot for groceries at the local Safeway (yes the map is a little off). Here, you can pick up cheap electronics, and some not-bad door crasher type sales. The cheap electronics are generally cheap in quality, not necessarily price. Of course, the fine people at Safeway could tell you to go use their drug store, but as of this point I know that nationwide, I'm covered at Walgreens. At Safeway, I'm not sure if that's set up yet. It wouldn't be fair if I was all upbeat about this place and give it only 3 stars. This place loses it's star at about one time of week. About 12pm - 9 pm Friday nights. It appears most of Kirkland gets sick about this time and requires presecription medicine. They do staff as best they can, but sometimes the drive up counter can get 4-5 cars deep at this time with 4-5 people at the check out stand in the pharmacy. Updating records when you get new insurance can be a pain as well when you have a family. Other than that? The wait times are pretty good ranging from 30mins-1 hour. If you work nights like I do and are up at odd hours anyway, these two stores on each side of the parking lot, Safeway and Walgreens, are your fairly all-inclusive 24 hour Food & Drug stops in Kirkland.
