I had never taken a cab in my life -- until a month ago. After worrying about it for 2 days and my boyfriend, lovingly, telling me it wasn't going to be a problem -- and giving me step by step things to watch out for, etc. I was prepared.
I ordered a cab for a short trip that I needed to make (Approx. 10 miles) Cab driver drove me to my location, which to my dismay decided to close for lunch - not a normal practice. He was very nice and understanding and drove around a while trying to find a place where I could wait for the company to re-open from lunch. $8 fair and glad to help -- especially after he knew it was my first cab ride.
After this trip I called Yellow Cab for a return ride home. Got a female cab driver, who from the moment she picked me up had an incredible attitude that made me feel like I was causing her an inconvenience to have her drive me the short distance. The entire way she complained about having to drive 20 miles to take me 10 miles. She made a wrong turn while driving me home. I told her to turn left, she turned right onto traffic and when I told her she had to turn around to get me home, she yelled and screamed about how she was going to have to backtrack.
I called Yellow Cab to complain and talked to the Manager, Jerry. I explained the situation and he told me to take his # down and that if I needed another cab at any time to call him and he would send a cab to me - free of charge.
Forward to today - I needed to take another cab. I tried to call Jerry a few days prior to schedule the cab, left voicemail - no response. I called Jerry again the morning of my trip - no answer, just voicemail and no callback. So, I called the Cab company and they arrived within 30 minutes - I was impressed so far. Got into the cab and told the cab driver he was going to have to make a few stops for me on the round trip. He said no problem. He dropped me to the places on my route, while I explained to him the hard time I've had prior with a previous cab driver. He knew exactly who the cab driver was I referred to and began to discuss her religious beliefs - ""Oh, she's a MUSLIM! And we're in a war with Islam....."" Little did the driver know that in his back seat was yet another Muslim that he thinks he's in war against. I bit my tongue for fear of the cab driver leaving me stranded at one of my destinations; however, on my ride home he again started bashing Muslims and Islam to which I responded that I, to his surprise, am Muslim and he quickly became quiet. He dropped me back at my house and I paid my fare and exited.
The trip wasn't bad; however, the fact that the driver put out his personal beliefs about another religion, other than his own, kind of put me in a bad spot and I feel a person shouldn't project their personal opinions on others. I give Yelow Cab 1 Star - simply due to Driver #1 I had and the quick response time of Cab #3
