Review content:
They performed an average quality sewage plumbing job for us. The problem was that the job was quoted high, leading me to believe they were going to do more than they did. I calculated the charge for what was a relatively simple job in PVC tubing that needed little digging (pipe either on surface, or when trenched, only 1 1/2 ft deep maximum, often less. Their labor portion for putting in the 108 feet of PVC (60 of 4", 48 of 2") was $36 per foot, extraordinary in my opinion. Materials, diagnostics, rootering, etc were all separate other charges. I wrote them a letter at the close of the job asking the owner (who was never at the job site) to review the cost. A week went by and the owner's spouse called to collect the balance owed on the work. I asked about the letter and whether the owner had a response. She claimed they did not get it. I faxed a copy along with a summary cover letter, but not before I got a belligerent, aggressive call from the main plumber that had been on site. He had quoted the job and it was so high in retrospect. I eventually talked to the owner. He defended the job charge, saying that that was what it cost and that he had plenty of business, much of it from word of mouth. My letter and conversation were carefully worded to simply ask for a cost review to make sure there wasn't an overcharge. Despite this, the owner and his wife were defensive and wife implied I was out of line to do this. She asked my profession (I am a math teacher) and then said it was all well and good "to put fancy words on paper" but that I owed the balance and that I needed to pay it. And that was still before I had the simple favor of a response to my question from the owner. So...there you have my experience with Chambliss Plumbing. Pros: Where there in a timely manner for the emergency. Final repair work did the job. Cons: Had impression job was to be more comprehensive than was for the dollar. Very high price. Also paid for some work and materials twice because initial stop-gap actions were used in the final work.
