This review is long, long overdue. We hired Key Moving and Storage to move us from Philadelphia to Brooklyn a couple of months ago, after careful research and quite a few conversations with several different moving companies.
The reviews were helpful, but I still went more with a hunch. I just felt more comfortable and more confident that our move would be trouble free with Key Moving and Storage. They also quoted me a rate that was far lower than other companies. (more on that in a bit)
My hunch was right on. The movers, Jaime and crew, arrived right on time -- bright and early and in a terrific mood the day of our move. Immediately they put us at ease - despite being a little taken aback by how much stuff we had to move although I had taken great (I'd say, excessive care in measuring our furniture and belongings) They packed us up within a couple of hours, and had us on our way -- they and we headed up to NYC. They assured me that we would get everything done that day and they held their part of the bargain.
They arrived at this end with an extra helper, just to make sure that everything got unpacked in a timely fashion. If I wasn't a fan already, I became one in the hours that followed. They didn't balk at the fact that our living room was indeed three floors up or at the staircases which indeed seemed to narrow for our furniture. They were determined AND managed to find some way -- some magical way -- to get everything in, undamaged. We couldn't believe their inventiveness, patience, professionalism and good cheer.
In the end the move came out to be more expensive than we had been told -- quite a bit more (perhaps a third more) which makes me wonder about how to estimate better in the future.
But we were so pleased with the service, that we would use Scott and Key Moving again in a heartbeat.
