After a couple of months of research on a new digital point-and-shoot, I decided to get a Fuji Finepix Z20FD. I was set to order the camera and a memory card on Amazon, and with shipping, it was going to cost me around $250+. Since my virtue is impatience, I wanted to get my camera ASAP, so I looked up Camera Land on Yelp. Decent starrage, near my work....that's the one! I called to see if they had the model I wanted, and Mark agreed to hold the last Z20FD for me. I went to pick it up the next day, and as promised, it was waiting for me behind the counter. But I still had questions. What about the battery life? Does it really perform that well in low light? Will I be able to take good pictures of my friends in bars and whatnot? Is the software compatible with my Mac? What about the memory card???? All these questions were answered for me in a refreshingly non-attitudinal way. As for the memory card, they said I did not need the high speed, but they were out of the regular, so they gave me the high speed for the regular's price, which they did not have to do at all. The camera cost $129.99, about $70 less than what they were charging at Amazon. All in all, I paid about $100 less than I would have at Amazon, and now I don't have to wait for the camera and the card to arrive in their separate shipments (!) from different merchants (because now Amazon has minions, apparently). The camera is lovely. It's teeny, it's black (although I kinda wanted the hot pink), it does take good pictures in low light, the battery life is great so far (it was on last night for 2 hours straight as I played with it), the software worked fine and the camera has a bunch of cool features to explore. I like new toys. I also like being in and out of a store in less than 15 minutes when I have make an important purchase. This is why I do a lot of research on the product beforehand, so I don't have to waste time later.
