Rivendell is an oasis and the most unique restaurant in San Marcos. Only the long lost Mosscliff had such atmosphere. The food is incredible. The service is slow (a compliment). This is the place for veggie fare, but is not limited to that. The rolls are legendary and the egg salad sandwich a favorite. Soup is always great, salads are super and the desserts are always fantastic. I've always wondered why I haven't come across a bunch of little old ladies having tea and cucumber sandwiches. Perhaps they don't know about this little treasure yet or I've been there at the wrong time. Perfect for birthday parties, or just a leisurely lunch.
