Nathan's Famous in Coney Island is a NYC institution. The hot dogs are legendary and taste different here than they do at the food courts in malls throughout the U.S. There's just something about the salty sea air that makes Nathan's Coney Island hot dogs great. These hot dogs are so good they don't need condiments, but if you must, mustard and kraut, please.
This location also sells seafood (fried and on the half shell), but folks come from far and wide for the hot dogs (and fries). It's open every day of the year rain or shine.
While you're visiting Coney Island, take a ride on the Cyclone (if you dare), visit the Aquarium or just stroll the boardwalk. It wouldn't be summer without a visit to Nathan's.
Coney Island is due to begin rehabilitation on its massive and neglected property. The state will hopefully put some much needed $$ into bringing back CI to a much loved tourist attraction with housing, restaurants and retail shops.
