After having physical therapy following a car accident my doctor recommended I take pilates. Pilates Etc., is close to where I live so I thought I'd check it out. Unfortunately, the studio isn't really a studio, but rather a converted office/house thing. After signing up for "beginner" level classes, within two weeks I had re-injured my wrists and neck, and for the first time ever my back was in pain. It didn't seem like they really knew what they were doing. There is nothing about where the owners/teachers are certified or where they trained. Plus they evaded my questions about this every time I asked. I ended up finding a place up the road that I really like (see review for Pilates on Hudson in Peekskill). My recommendation - if you want to do pilates, go where the instructors are certified and know what they are doing.
