Hy-Vee is by far the most customer focused grocery store I know. My wife went into Hy-Vee to look for a soup bone. We couldn't find any so we asked one of the employees if they had soup bones. Apparently they had stopped carrying soup bones several years ago because no one had every bought any.
When we returned a week later, we saw that they had stocked soup bones.
One day my wife wanted to make a paella with mussels. Mussels are not easy to find in Iowa, believe me. We called Hy-Vee to ask if they sold mussels. They said they didn't. But sure enough, about a week later we saw mussels in their seafood counter.
You'll find all kinds of unusual or hard-to-find items at Hy-Vee that may make you wonder "Why do they sell this?"
It seems Hy-Vee literally listens to their customers. If they don't have what you're looking for, they'll get it and put it on their shelves for you.
