I have eaten dinner here twice. The service was slow both times, although that seemed to be more the product of the kitchen than the waitstaff, at least the most recent time when I had a very attentive waiter. The first time I was there with friends for one of their Sun. night fixed price specials. One friend is a vegeterian and in such a "granola" town you'd think it wouldn't be a problem to accommodate him. They had to make up something because there was no vegeterian option, then he didn't receive part of his order. They are also a bit pricey. I tried a Cosmo there and found it to be one of the worst I've ever had, on the sour side. The wine selection is fine though. I have heard the place is for sale but not sure about that.

I have been a customer at Ramblin' Jack's basically since they opened. I like the people and the atmosphere. The staff is friendly and not pushy over specials, etc. I had an incident one time with one staff member on an extremely busy night and we were both crabby, so to be fair part of the fault was mine; and the manager not only dealt with the situation promptly but followed up with me and insisted on "the house" buying my dinner on a subsequent night. Going in there as a woman dining alone, I almost always sit in the bar with a book and it isn't a "meat market" atmosphere, it's very comfortable and hospitable. Boy...this makes me want to run down there for a Cosmo right now! My favorite dishes: Thai chicken pizza, cowgirl salad (add pulled pork), and shepherd's pie on a cold rainy night. The long-time manager knows you by name if you go in very often and always makes a point to stop by the table and say hello; unfortunately, he's going to manage their new place at the mall when it opens so I hope the environment stays positive after he transfers - or maybe I'll just have to start going there!

I absolutely LOVE Pick Quick!! The reason there is the parklike setting several people have commented on is that it used to be near an old drive-in theater that isn't there anymore. (Yes, the birds do love whatever you will "donate" their way!) They have homemade shakes and the BEST fries and burgers! I am always happy to have an excuse to be in the area to stop by and save up my fat calories for the chance. Beware, as somebody else mentioned they are only "seasonal" and are not open during the winter.

We live in Olympia and our vet in Tumwater recommends this place over & above the one in Oly. We've had occasion to bring in sick kitties a couple of different times. The office is easy to get to (be nice to the neighbors and be quiet when there at night) and secure. They buzz you into a large, clean waiting area. About the only down side I encountered was not being able to go back with my pet, which I would have preferred to do with my old girl (now deceased) because she was a 'fraidy cat! However, I could tell they treated her well and she recovered rapidly under their care, as did our other cat who came down with a terrible kitty cold very suddenly. I also liked that they were very plain in explaining what was wrong and in instructing in follow-up care and medications. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
As an add-on: One of our cats ended up hospitalized there for a week and almost died. They were very personal in their service and their level of communication with us. When pets are hospitalized you are able to go back and visit them at almost any hour. These people work really hard. Be aware it is a "pay as you go" type of business but I'm sure they have to do it that way or risk not being paid, unfortunately. We just left an open ended credit card and all charges were explained. Again, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
