Authentic New England store 11/1/2006

This is the quaintest little store in the quaintest little town in all of New Hampshire. I lived in the state for 4 years, so I'm a fair judge of New England Charm and Zeb's General Store has definitely got it. The store front looks like something from the early 1900's. Inside, looks like another era. The floors are old wide beam wood planks and the place is filled with local, genuine products. They have handmade soaps, penny candy, unique concoctions of herbs for dips and sauces, cheese and so much more! The upstairs room is filled with trinkets, home decorations, kids books/toys, jewelry and souvenirs. You can try free samples of fudge and many of their other homemade snacks. The service is also quite charming and friendly. Chat up the workers for great local recommendations. If you've ever wanted to visit an old fashioned general store, this is the place! The town it's located in is also known for skiing, so if you're a fan, think about planning a winter trip here (I'm sure it's gorgeously decorated for the holidays). But, it's also pretty far and in a remote area of NH on the Maine boarder. Luckily, they have a website brimming with products, gift baskets, history and recipes. If you can't make it to NH, try the website. http://www.zebs.com/index.html You won't be disappointed! more
