The history is palpable even as you walk to the entrance. The grounds of Maryhill are situated on the Lewis and Clark Trail overlooking the Columbria River Gorge.
I have been to Maryhill on several memorable occasions and have some great stories that I love to tell my kids (my birthday, enscribing promises on the Stone Henge replica, the bees...oh god, the bees...>.<).
Maryhill is one of only a handful of fully accredited museums. The admission price isn't bad ($7/adult, $6/senior, children 6-16 $2) but the drive is a long one. One of the things I like about Maryhill is how unexpected it is out in the toolieberries. It is a complete departure from the open spaces and fruit fields but it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb by any means.
I could write an entire article about the amazing collections housed within Maryhill (my favorites are the gorgeous dresses of Queen Marie of Romania and the incredible Rodin collection) but it is just easier to post a link to the Maryhill website :)
