horrible, never going there again 6/24/2006

Went in for a 90k service on my toyota 4runner. The car came back with 3 different issues that weren't there before! Overall quality and customer service is really poor. The car had no issues before, we just wanted to do a regular maintenance before a road trip we were going to take over July 4th weekend. this is a big maintenance so i expected a pretty big bill. The problems started happening almost immediately after we drove the car off the lot. When we got home, I noticed the wiper fluid was leaking out of a slit in the hose. They should have done anything to the hose, but maybe it got cut during some of the other maintenance. We went back to get it fixed the next day. We came back after they said it was fixed, but it still wasn't fixed!! I tried showing the mechanic where the issue was and he gave me some major attitude. thankfully, the manager made him replace the entire hose. later that night, my wife and i found out that the right hand blinker wasn't working. i went under the car and saw that the wires were loose. these wires are near where the wiper fluid hose is so presumably it was knocked loose during the wiper hose repair. I didn't think this was that big of a deal so i wasn't that upset (other than it confirmed to me that they don't really do quality work and are kinda sloppy). however, the next day is when the big stuff happened! my wife was driving the car up to Rancho San Antonio to go hiking when the car stalled and the engine turned off. This is a huge safety issue b/c, as with any car, the power brakes and steering don't work when the engine is shut off. She tried restarting the car, and luckily was able to restart/coast back down the hill to the Chevron gas station on the corner of Homestead and Foothill. The mechanic there looked at it and saw that the coolant hose was completely detached and all the coolant had leaked out!!! The mechanic there was good and fixed the issue, but we had a big bone to pick with Precision Tune Auto Care. My wife took the car back there and at first the mgr wasn't apologetic or sympathetic, etc... We demanded some money back. At first, the mgr wasn't that sympathetic to our demands - he said they'd recheck the work they had done and see what was wrong, but by this point the coolant leak issue had already been fixed! He gave us an $85 dollar credit for future oil changes - but thats not the point. Why would I go back there? We're going to talk to the owner on Monday (since this is the weekend) to see if we can get anything worked out. But with the poor quality of work done, I now have to take the car somewhere else to double check the work. Doesn't make me very confident ahead of our roadtrip coming up. And I wouldn't make such a big issue of it if only one of these things had happened, but I just can't trust the quality of their work with so many things going wrong. I will never, never go there again.... more
