I grew up in a small town with a small bank where everyone knew you, and I miss it. You just don't get that at the big national banks. However, LANCO sure does come close to this feeling of community. The staff is always friendly, they have picnics and annual meetings that you can actually go to, and have offered some great contests and give-aways.
I have been a member here for years, and slowly we are moving all of our accounts away from other banks. They offer just about everything a regular bank does, except for savings bonds. I like the feeling of getting a great rate and not supporting some hideously wealthy CEO's compensation.
The savings interest rates are not as great as you hear from other credit unions, but there are competitive rates on other forms of savings.
