A few moms and I saw a movie with our babies recently at this theater. They rotate movies (one choice/one theater) every week and it was nice to get out and see a movie without having to worry that my baby might disturb others. The actual theater was gigantic, as was the screen, with semi-reclining seats with armrests that could go up. They didn't turn down the volume or keep the lights partially on as with other theaters that offer the same service to moms, which might have been nice. Also, the movie selections aren't always baby appropriate (Brothers Grimm about girls being kidnapped or Exorcist!) but if your baby is young enough it probably doesn't matter. I would go here again, especially for the convenience of parking and being able to visit BabiesRUs after the movie!

Ann Keppler, RN (Tues and Weds) and Judy Herrigel facilitate these weekly support groups for parents and their infants at the Community Birth and Family Center. They are divided into age groups (birth to 12 weeks, 3 to 6 months, etc) and are held at different times of day depending on the child's age. You do not have to sign up for the classes and can drop in when you get the chance (it's okay if you're late!)---a $5 donation is encouraged with each class you attend. I have found these classes to be invaluable (esp with my first!) as a means of support and excellent, well-intentioned advice on everything from dispelling breastfeeding myths to answering questions about sleep and fussiness. I would encourage all new moms to try and attend at least one of these classes. Ann Keppler is a wealth of knowledge and kindness (she co wrote the book "Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Newborn")! You can view all of the classes at www.communitybirth.org.

Before my daughter arrived, I bought a few nursing bras here and found their selection to be unsurpassed. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and is quick to call you back if you have ordered or reserved an item. After my daughter arrived, I have found myself returning week after week for other great things they have such as extra parts for the Medela pumps, wraps/slings and more bras! I highly recommend visiting this place in Madison Park if you are pregnant.

Lunch is great as well (they do not serve dinner). They use local, quality ingredients in everything they make and it all tastes delicious! Outdoor seating when weather permits as well.

My family stayed here for a Seattle family reunion this summer and really enjoyed it. The rooms are very luxurious and include a kitchen area with free daily refreshments, reading area and large bathrooms. It is located about 3 blocks from Pike Marketplace and across from the Seattle Art Museum, so convenient for walking around downtown without a car. It is not a 'quaint' bed and breakfast, as it's located in a high rise apartment building but the staff was very courteous and you didn't interact much with the other people actually living there. Other perks include a cocktail hour with wine and appetizers and a turn-down service.

My parents stayed here for 2 weeks after the birth of our daughter and they loved it. It was clean and quiet and served a breakfast including make your own waffles. There is also a smaller outdoor pool located on the premises and the Inn offers a free shuttle service to places like UVillage and downtown. If you are breakfast person, then all you have to do is walk a few steps to Portage Bay Cafe which serves fabulous breakfast and lunches. The prices seem to be reasonable for the location. (They also own and run Watertown which is another hotel a block up the street.)
