Freshmen are told to buy books locally as it saves them the trouble of finding it online which seems as a hassle to some. For those who find used book search online to be a hassle, Neds offers those a local store with all necessary books but comes with a much higher price. Compared to Half.com and other online textbook searches, my book cost for this semester totaled 220 dollars as compared to over 300 dollars it would have cost me at Neds. The lines for purchases and returns are extremely long during the first 2 weeks of school as students are adding and dropping classes. The buyback price for books is also a major drawback of Neds. Buying a new book for 100 dollars, would yield only near 50% of original value when sold back to Neds. Neds then promptly puts the used book back at the beginning of next semester at 80-90 dollars. more
