My wife and I went to Villa del Sol because it's fairly close to the Shubert, as we were going to see a show that night. Vill is relatively small (the outside of the building makes it seem larger), but tastefully decorated. It has a full bar as well. The food was OK, perhaps par so far as Mexican cuisine is conerned. Service time was long since they only have 1 or 2 people serving tables at any given time. Prices were a bit on the expensive side. Overall "Good", but there are better mexican places in town.

Casa Lisboa, in case the name didn't give it away, is a Portuguese-style restaurant that serves (of course) typical Portuguese cuisine. The restaurant is on the small side and not located in a very good section of Hartford, but it does well for itself. The food is well-prepared quickley, and the staff are bilingual, so it's not uncommon to hear people ordering in Portuguese. Prices are a bit high, but you get what you pay for!

Cromwell Giant Grinder is a great place to have a sub, sandwich, or pizza. IT's a small place, so your eat0in options are limited, but when you see "Giant" in the name, believe it! The "standard" rolls are 16" long (4" longer than most other places, inclusing the chain stores), and they have a variety of toppings and meats to make whatever you like. The downside is that the prices are also Giant; it's not unusual that a sub, chips and drink will set you back $13 - $15 or so, although one could make the arguement that you're actually buying 2 meals!

Rookie's is perhaps the most interesting restaurant in Cromwell. It's more known as a sports bar than a restaurant, but along with your beer you can also enjoy a variety of food, not just pub-style. The atmosphere is what gives this place its "charm" - they have numerous (uncountable!) TV sets scattered throughout the establishment, usually tuned to any number of sports games from around the world. If you'd like a lively place to eat with good food, this is the place.

No Anchovies (Pizza) is located in the KMart plaza in Cromwell, and seems to be more of a takeout place than eat-in. On the few occassions I've eaten there, I've eaten in the restaurant, which is small and only seats roughly 20 people. The prices are par for pizza, and the pizza is good, typical of most take out, but not like the national chains (pizza is very "mom-and-pop" style if you know what I mean).

Luna pizza is definately the best pizza in Cromwell - there are several pizza shops and after several orders I've found this place to be the best. Here you will find pizza like they make in Italy - dough with sliced tomatoes (or sauce if you like), and sliced mozzarella along with any toppings you like. The downside is that it is quite expensive when compared to other places. They also have a drive-through window.

Diamond Trio is a small pizzaria located on 372 in Cromwell. I've had takeout pizza here a couple of times, and both times it has disappointed - sure it's hot, but this pizza is rather bland and greasy. The strange thing is although noone I know really likes their pizza, the place is pretty popular. That's probably because it serves breakfast as well, but I can't comment about that.

The Educated Burgher has two things going for it - it's located in the heart of the Broadway district, and it has cheap food in a college city. This is a "typical" burger joint, where just about everything is flash-fried (think of beachside food). This makes just about everything taste good, but bad for you as well. The prices are pretty cheap, and seating inside is plentiful.

The Rusty Scupper has been around for quite awhile. The downside is that it's not near to city center (quite the contrary actually), so a trip in the car is required. You will be rewarded though; Apart from excellent seafood dishes, the Rusty Scupper also has a great location along Long Wharf Drive, meaning it has some nice views of Long Island Sound, and they've built a deck so that those who wish can take in the seaside panorama first-hand while dining. Overall a great place, especially on cool summer nights!

Koffee on Audobon is a small coffee shop with the usual offering. You'll find all your typical coffee drinks here, as well as some dessert-type foods. It's located on a side-street off of Whitney, disallowed to vehicle traffic, so sitting outside might be a welcome respite from the day's activities. The interior is larger than you'd expect, and decorated with some *interesting* artwork. It's frequented by the student population, although rarely is it so busy that you can't get your caffeine fix.
