The Metropolitan Museum of Art has it all. Their Egyptian collection is wonderful. Their Arms and Armor hall is a dream scape for kids of all ages. Their Medieval collection - especially the amazing Cloisters up town - can't be beat. From their collections of every school of painting to Greek and Roman sculpture and everything in between -you can fill up your culture cup here, right up to the brim. What I love best? Location, location, location - situated on museum mile smack inside Central Park, it's a haven from the hectic and uncivilized world in which we live. A beautiful reminder that life can be more than pandering to the least common denominator. When I was a college student (think Nixon Administration) this was the best date spot. Show the lady your sensitive side, stroll through the park. Grab a spot on the Great Lawn and then - play kissy face! I even got one of my few A's by writing a paper on their Kouros (an amazing sculpture from the Greeks). Arguably one of the world's best art museums. You need to go if you are in the City. (Secret - at Christmas, they have an amazing display of Medieval decorations - you need to go.) more
