Harkness Memorial park is an absolutely beautiful park right on the Long Island Sound in Waterford. It is a great spot to walk, ride bikes, or picnic during the spring, summer and fall. The views are just beautiful, and the park is well maintained.
In July and August, they hold "Summer Music" nights, with local symphonies playing classical, jazz and broadway shows in the outdoor pavilion. The entertainment is excellent, and its so nice to set up a picnic blanket and just be outside listening. You can bring beer/wine to the park for summer music, along with a picnic lunch. Many people set up wine and cheese and candles--some go all out. It really is a nice time for adults and families.
