On the one hand this is a typical East Village club-lounge-bar. On the other hand, its very unique. Its a hookah bar, so there's great flavors of tobacco to be enjoyed. Upstairs consists of nooks, crannies, drapes, couches and tables, it reminds of lounges that I can't afford to go to, except with Karma I can actually afford a few drinks. Usually there's chilled house music or acid jazz playing.
Downstairs is a dance floor / night club. The music downstairs varies but its usually good. I enjoy the retro hip hop.
Overall an interesting place with a very mixed crowd (unlike most East Village bars) and worth checking out.
