The steaks are spectacular, though generally too large. I have a good appetite, but the only steak I can finish (usually) is their "petite" filet mignon.
The Met has a monster wine list and the stewards are very knowledgeable. I admit I did feel a little sheepish asking for a bottle under $60, but the steward made me feel like I was still getting one of their best.
The nine layer chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream is to die for, but good luck getting to dessert with any room in your belly unless you plan accordingly.
The service has always been wonderful. My favorite memory was when a waiter overheard us talking about deep-fried Snickers bars, went across the street to buy a Snickers, failed to get the chef to deep fry it for us, so served it cut up on plates "raw."

My first trip to Las Vegas was last October for a conference at the Riviera. What a disappointment. It's an old facility, reeks of smoke (even the "non-smoking" rooms), and the staff seem to resent the fact that their hotel is no longer a big player on the Strip. It's even a ways from the newer hotels so you have a bit of a walk or a cab ride to get there.

When we bought our house three years in 2001 it was new construction. I got a recommendation from a friend for Mike Miller of All Sound Inspections and after talking with him briefly we hired him to do the inspection.
Mike was very thorough and found a bunch of issues that we worked with the builder to take care of. An example was that the siding wasn't primed and painted to the manufacturer's specification where it had been cut.
I *think* the cost was about $375 and included a multi-hour inspection, printed report, and help clarifying items via email.
Since our builder provided a one year warranty we took advantage of the reduced-rate re-inspection and had Mike come back just before the warranty was up.

Tami Brockway Joyce, LMP, is a talented masseuse based on Vashon Island, but works in West Seattle as well. She does massage therapy in her facilities or at your home. On Vashon she has a recently-built space in the woods that continues to expand.
Her positive attitude will brighten your day as her hands soothe away the knots in your muscles. I believe she also provides massages for pregnant women with a special table.

Birth and Beyond has lots of great goodies for the mommy-to-be lotions and the like. Once baby arrives they are a great resource for breast-feeding supplies. They have tons of nursing bras and equipment for my breast pump. If you are looking for a gift for a new baby they have that sort of thing too--from custom made bibs and slings to baby blankets and bedding. They also have an extensive wall of parenting/pregnancy related books. The staff is always helpful -- they have a parent perspective, I think I heard somewhere that they were all moms themselves. It is always nice to get advice and help from someone who had alredy been there and done that!

I have been seeing Dr. Sturgell since I was a kid (20+ years now--yikes!) and I credit the fact that I have only have one cavity to him. The one mini-cavity I have had came when I went away to college and didn't get my regular cleanings. I was terrified after all of the dentist/drill horror stories and let Dr. Sturgell know. He was kind enough to give me a bit of nitrous oxide to make me less anxious and then was quite gentle. With headphones on I hardly knew anything was happening in my mouth. Finding a dentist is hard but one that is gentle and is personable is and accomplishment.

The our dry cleaner of choice is North Bend Dry Cleaners. They are friendly, reasonable and always follow instructions for starch. After a few other places turned the hubby's shirts into cardboard we stumbled on this little hole in the wall cleaner that takes the time to please their customer. They even call if you have forgotten an article of clothing there instead of just getting rid of it. That is the service that counts.

This is the best local resource for gravel, bark and soil in North Bend. They are comparably priced to other sand and gravel places but have really great folks who are willing to work with you and offer suggestions for your project. We have gotten their 3-way dirt, gravel, cedar chips for our swing-set and bark. The delivered on time and were able to dump the load within a foot of where we needed it (great since we have a small driveway). They also have pavers and hay for any kind of project.

I have taken the prenatal yoga classes at yoga barn for both of my pregnancies and have been extremely pleased. The focus on breathing, stretching and maintaining muscle tone helped not only through the weeks of pregnancy but also during the birth (stamina through labor -- focus during contractions) and recovery of my abs and back. Catherine took the time during every class to personally check-in on each one of us and ask if there were things that bothered us that week and if she could help with stretches or tennis balls to work out the knots. It probably helped that she is also a massage therapist who works with pregnant folks.

Spoiled by Nana is a high end kids clothing store. They are definately the place to go for special event attire or if you are looking for a unique outfit for the child who already has everything from GapKids. I was also impressed by their selection of dance clothes for little girls. They had the usual leotards but the selection of tutus is mind-boggling. It is a fun store but not where I would go for daily wear since they are not clothes kids get dirty in.
