A non-baseball fans review 8/15/2005

The Louisville Slugger Museum is a good museum, but not great. I'm not a huge baseball fan, so I'm sure that dampened my enjoyment a bit. Don't get me wrong. The documentary they show is a good quality, interesting show and watching a bat be made from the raw materials is fun to watch. Or so I've been told. We went on a Sunday and apparently the bat crafters aren't working on Sundays. So we did not get to see the bat made, but we were walked through the steps in the worksop. The end of the tour is a room with a few interesting historical pieces and displays. This is the only time that you won't be chaperoned by a tour guide. Oh, and you get a free souvenir mini bat, so you don't have to buy one at the gift shop before you go in. For me, the highlight of the museum was something I got for free: a photo taken with the world's largest Louisville Slugger and another with the world's largest baseball glove. All in all, I think a baseball fan would get alot more out of this museum than I did. more
