My husband and I went to Taco John's for the first time on Jan 20, 2010 during lunch hour; one of the most bizarre experiences of our lives, at-least at any restaurant establishment . We ordered two tacos, $1.19 each. Upon driving away, we noticed that there was only one taco. Immediately we drove around the drive-thru again and told the worker. We were met in the second window by an unshaven gentleman that seemed a little rough around the edges, an older guy not appropriately groomed for face-to face contact with customers. We did, learn later he was the owner. We know because he repeated it over and over and we have since checked with Taco John's headquarters. He immediately accused us of lying and defrauding them out of the taco we said was missing. His excuses were we asked if they had a dollar menu (we later found out they don't) as well as asking if we could get a free taco for our troubles. After all we did spend half our lunch break in the drive-thru going through twice. We were okay with not getting the free taco because we know mistakes do happen. My husband defended us to no avail. We were utterly shocked at the way he continually yelled back as my husband was defending the truth, even while there was a long line of cars waiting behind us. After having enough humiliation, we drove off and amazingly he was still shouting that his workers put two tacos in the bag. In all our dealings with any customer service oriented business, we have never been more humiliated and demeaned. When he was repeatedly telling us he was the owner, it was as if he thought it legitimized his claims and justified him being able to yell at customers. I am sure we are not the first people he has done this to.
I would strongly urge everyone to take their business elsewhere in order to prevent a potentially humiliating experience.
