I put my cat in a kennel for one week around Christmas time on 11/30/13. The owner of the kennel gave me a small bag with cat nip for a Christmas gift. When I got home I got the cats settled. I put the catnip on top of the bedspread. It was only five minutes that I left the area where she was and all of a sudden she was throwing up all over the place. She had opened the packet and was eating the catnip. \r \r Because I take very good care of my cats, I called Animal Emergency Clinic of Brandon and they told me to come over immedately. I will say that the office personnel and the veterinarian were very efficient. However, they said the problem was from the catnip and I was presented with a bill for $247, and then told the veterinarian thought it would be a good idea if she stayed overnight. The cost was in the $945. dollar range for tests. I told them I would take her home and watch her to see if she was okay. They injected some saline solution into her skin and gave her a pill for nausea. They gave me the pills for nausea. We got home, and she was immediately well. It was obviously from the catnip and when she threw up she got it out of her system. \r \r As far as I am concerned, I feel these people are all about money, and there is a lack of integrity. However, it appears today that most of the vets today are all about money. Occasionally, one can find one that there only concern is the well being of the animal and I pray that I never have to take my pets to emergency again. more
