I USED to really like this place, back when they were at their old location, where we had seen Dr. Madsen. They didn't seem as money focused and didn't lay on the thick guilt trips. We've since had a few appointments at their shiny new location that weren't that great and after yesterday's appointment with Dr. Hathaidharm I'm not planning on going back ever again. We simply took our 8 year old dog to get his shots updated. To get the $45 worth of shots you must also pay for a $50 office exam, so we were already in it for $100 from the get go. The vet proceeded to lay on a very thick guilt trip about all the things that are ""wrong"" with our happy and healthy for his age DOG. That's when the upsell galore occurred - we should get his ears swabbed, prescription ear medicine, have the ""fatty area"" on his abdomen biopsied to make sure it is only fat (not cancer), have him sedated and have his teeth cleaned, feed him the food they recommend (and sell) because he is overweight, etc, etc, etc. Mind you this all happened after we had already waited for 45 minutes for our scheduled appointment with two kids in tow.\r \r I really wish I could just find a vet in town that is willing to accept that for a lot of people, while we do love our animals, they are also just animals and unless they are in extreme pain I'm okay with some amount of ""tartar buildup"" and bad breath on my 8 year old dog. If we had gone with all of her recommendations we would have been out at least $700. We have kids and a mortgage and there is no room in our budget for this. When we declined we were made to feel like we don't care for our animal (even though we were there for him to get his annual shots). Another thing that annoyed me was our dog has floppy ears and is prone to ear infections and several times he has been prescribed ear drops. At the old location we could just call and get these refilled. Now we were told that the ones we had gotten last time were expired (which they weren't, I got home and checked and they still have 6 months on them) and that in order to receive a refill we would have to do additional tests, etc (to the tune of $100). \r \r I'm not happy, don't like the upsell and guilt and wish they had just stayed at their old location. I'm not planning on returning again. Back to find another reputable affordable vet in town. more
