Safe and friendly; a good learning environment 2/10/2012

We've only been at this CH a week, but I felt compelled to write a review based on all the negative ratings with google. We came from the Toepperwein location and were very disappointed with the extremely high teacher turnover there. (A lice incident and a classroom bully didn't help either, but this can happen at ANY daycare.) Although smaller than the Toepperwein location, this facility seems to be clean, the teachers seem very friendly, and my child is served what is on the menu for that day. Any time a substitution has to be made, it is posted at least a day in advance. The only negative thing I can comment on is the parking and the high tuition - but you get what you pay for. This location came highly recommended by my child's occupational therapist whose own daughter is enrolled in the toddler class. She indicated that she has never seen a big problem with teacher turnover and my son's 2 yr old teacher has been there 8 years. My son seems very happy (no longer crying every time I pick him up as he was at the other location.) We chose CH b/c they really are one of the best daycares available in San Antonio -we've looked, read the reviews, checked out the state cite, and heard from other parents. Even my son's speech therapist advised that CH has one of the best student to teacher ratios and that she would advise going with another CH since we were unhappy with the Toepperwein location. They follow a curriculum and give you a daily report to let you know what your child did that day. I especially appreciate that they allow my son's speech therapist, occupational therapist, and early intervention specialist to work with my child in the class (some daycares don't allow that - I guess they are afraid the provider might witness something). This allows my son, who has never even been with a sitter much less in a daycare and who has a speech delay, to be better integrated into the class and for the therapist to help him develop social skills. And with all of my son's providers (as well as the providers of another child in his class) coming in at all times and other parents picking up and dropping off at all times, I feel certain that my child's safety and the safety of any other child there is not in jeopardy. Perhaps the person who made these comments was a disgruntled employee. That sort of thing cannot go on unnoticed. If anything changes, I'll be back to write another review! more
