My fiance purchased a used car from R&D about 4 years ago; a rockin retro '92 Volvo that wheezed when it sped down the highway, honked if you turned a corner too sharp, could never fathom a speedy acceleration, and the a/c didn't work. But the car was a tank. The dealership offered to repair known issues with a comparable increase in purchase price or purchase as-is with a decrease in listed price. The sales staff were friendly and upfront with known mechanical issues on the vehicle. Although the vehicle was obviously used and had seen better days, it ran very well and maintenance costs were minimal for the age of the vehicle.
