I wouldn't have given the place one star even, except that the website requires it. The pizza was passable with ingredients just dumped in the middle, and the beer at $6/glass overpriced, but we could get a seat here without a wait (which should have made us suspicious) so we went for it. When the bill came they'd already put 15% on the total (which included the taxes) for our party of 3. Then they brought the credit card slip for us to sign, but did not bring back the detailed bill. The credit card slip invited another gratuity, even telling us how much 10%, 15%, 20% would be. We almost fell for it because we couldn't remember if there had been a gratuity already added. When I asked for the detailed slip, the waitress said she couldn't find it. I told her I really needed her to get one for me. When she started seeming nervous about it I figured something was up. When I saw that they were asking for an extra tip on top of the tip we already paid, I understood why. Why would they have their credit card receipts ask for a gratuity when they add one already? She said, ""The receipts just always print out that way?"" Yeah, I'll be they do, and the pizza is so forgettable because the oven just cooks it that way. New York is cleaning up its act for tourists, but in my opinion places like this are a vestige of the bad old days.
