I regularly check out any and all of the Aquarium stores in my area of B'lyn and Manhattan. I can say without reservation that Pacific is one of if not THE best fish and aquatic plant store in the whole city. They do freshwater, marine and terrariums too. The staff is SUPER knowledgeable (look for Chi or Kevin for an education in fish and plant keeping) and very very friendly. Prices are reasonable, give or take, and they are willing to negotiate prices if you find an item cheaper elsewhere.
Their main display tank (my usual barometer for a store's skill level) is a 180 gallon densely planted beauty with some very happy cherry barbs, rummy nosed tetras and Amano shrimp, etc. I know they're happy because the huge cherry barbs are such an intense red color and the rummys also have intensely red noses. And tell everyone that says Amano shrimp don't breed in captivity that they breed like crazy in this Utopian tank without any special effort other than their keeping the tank up so well.
They regularly stock unusual species such as fresh water stingrays (even tea-cup s-rays), farlowela, neon blue angels direct from Singapore, look down fish (super cool and pricey marine fish), beautiful discus and lots more. It's a popular store that regularly sells out of their stock so check in often.
