Surprisingly good food 7/19/2009

My fiancee and I ate at Mc Cabe's a few nights ago. We'd never been there before, but it always looked busy when we would drive by so we thought we would give it a try. We walked in, and it was unclear whether we should seat ourselves or wait for a hostess. Since no one greeted us, we sat ourselves at an open booth. A waitress came over and greeted us within a few minutes and took our drink order. She came back promptly and took our order for our meal. She wasn't particularly friendly towards us, and appeared rather rushed, but it was a pretty busy night. Our food arrived a short time later. We were both impressed with how delicious it was. I ordered veggie quesadillas and he ordered a steak and cheese sandwich. After our food arrived. . .our waitress, Brianna, never came back. No one came to check on whether or not we were enjoying our dinner, and she never came to refill our water glasses or to ask if we'd like another beer. The busgirl finally stopped by to fill our water glasses, but our waitress still didn't stop by our table. She walked by us several times and looked right at us but never stopped to check on us. We finished our meals and sat there waiting for her to come back for about 15 minutes, and then she finally came back. We weren't offered dessert or asked if we'd like another drink. We got our check and paid and left. Overall, the food was very tasty, which we were surprised by because we had expected to get regular ""bar"" food. The service was mediocre at best. We were divided about the decor and atmosphere though; I thought the place looked rather run-down and dirty on the inside, but my fiancee thought the antiques were quaint and beautiful. Pros: food Cons: service more
