Is there any good Greek food in Dallas? 4/8/2009

I have begun to wonder if I will ever find a good Greek restaurant in Dallas. Today I stopped at Cafe Greek at the suggestion of some lovely ladies in a store across the street. As I walked in, I was not sure if the restaurant was open or closed, as most of the lights appeared to be off, and I was literally the only person in the place. After a couple of unsure steps inside, a man came from around the corner. I had to make th first move, ""Are you open?"" He said they were, and gestured vaguely around the restaurant and said to sit anywhere. I soon found out that he was busy watching TV on his laptop a few tables away. I should know better than to eat ANY food from a buffet, but I decided to eat here anyway. The pita bread was hard and practically fell apart when I attempted to open it. The vegetables (zucchini, carrots, and onions) were over-salted and over-cooked. The shaved lamb and the hummus, I must say, were very good, and I enjoyed every bite of them. I also had some of the marinated beets and onions, which was a bland boring mistake. Even had I eaten nothing but the lamb and hummus (which is exactly what I should have done), the price was well over what it should have been for the effort that appears to have gone into this food. I will not dine here again, and will continue my search for a decent greek restaurant in Dallas. Pros: Lamb, hummus, spacious Cons: staff, pita, vegetables, price more
