A lifetime warranty here is all talk no warranty 4/6/2009

Almost 10 years ago we purchased my wedding ring here. We paid $5,000. It came with a ""lifetime warranty"". Three times a diamond broke (this site won't let me use the word cra*ked) and one time a diamond fell out. I hardly wear this ring as the first diamond broke within a couple months so I just did not want to wear it and have more happen. I wear it to dinner, conferences and holidays. Thats it! The ring had been sent back to Nili, the company that made it. They fixed it the first few times. This latest time, I was greeted with a salesman who asked me what I did to it to actually have a diamond break? If using a fork or looking at my sons papers at school or spinning the reels on a slot machine count as hard , well then I am gulity. I quickly told him that this was not the first time that this had happened and he looked it up on the computer and said he sees only one time since they have had the computer system. I told him I had all the papers and claim tickets at home if he did not believe me. The salesman seemed uninterested and bothered right away, first he asked me what I did to it to make it break and then he said it must be old and then asked how old the ring was? Do diamonds become weak when they get old? I did not know that mattered, a lifetime after all is a lifetime, that is exactly what the papers we have about the ring say. The sales man told me that Nili was merging with another company and they probably won't fix it. My fault, I do not think so. He said he would call them. The salesman called me back a couple days later and said that he called Nili and they would have to cut a special cut diamond for my ring because they no longer make that cut. My fault, I don't think so. So he told me that it would cost about $300 to fix (the salesman estimate) So my lifetime warranty is obviously no longer a lifetime warranty. I told him to wait and I would talk to my husband. When he called back to see what I wanted to do with the ring I told him I would come pick it up, he said ""so you don't want it fixed?"" I said no, He said he would have Nili send the ring back. The very next morning, Leo's called and said they had my ring back. Wow! One night to ship back from New York. My ring never left that store! Leo's also does not carry Nili any longer. Pros: It is in Michigan Cons: Customer service and not honoring warranties more
