My dog, Murphy, was hit by a car last week when she was accidentally let out by a neighbor. We took her to the Emergency Clinic because it was night time and after hours at our vet's office. Her injuries seemed horrible to me. I could smell poo, like she'd gone on herself, but there was no sign of poo, so I knew instinctively that it was internal and pointed to a liver failure. \r

We brought her in and they told us she had busted up her teeth, and had some "minor internal bleeding, from her spleen", which was easily correctable with surgery. A surgery that costs around $2000. Before they would even PREP her for surgery, they demanded payment. Meanwhile, my dog is in pain. Once they started surgery, they told us that she needed a blood transfusion, but that she would survive. \r

Forty minutes later, they told us she had a 10% chance of surviving the surgery and her liver and kidneys were destroyed. \r
