Ripped off by El Burrito! 3/14/2009

We have been long time customers of this restaurant. We used a ""take $10 off a $40 check"" coupon from the Entertainment Book. When our bill came, they added a $10 ""gratuity"" and then took $10 off. (we had 5 people in our group) Wow..when we asked why they had taken the liberty of adding a tip..they said that if we were going to use a coupon, that was the rule! THIS WAS NOT ON THE COUPON. The coupon does state a guideline for tipping, but no mention of a mandatory $10 add-on. The owner was abrasive when we (politely) asked where the coupon stated a mandatory $10 add-on to the bill. He stated that those were the rules, and if we didn't like it, we weren't welcome to dine there anymore. (!) It was very upsetting to be treated with such disdain in front of our young children. It would have been ok to say ""sorry if there was a misunderstanding..etc..."", then we would have been bummed, but paid with no other protest. Instead, the owner was flippant from the get-go, and in this economy, this rude man lost regular diners. I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect by someone we were paying nearly $100 to patronize his business. \r If you dine at El Burrito, bring cash so that you only pay for the food that you order. We paid with credit, which is necessitating a protest of the charge through our bank account. Ask your server or the owner what all of his add-ons, extras and nickel and dime charges add up to. Or, ask him to point out where in his restaurant, menu or coupon these charges are printed. Better yet, save yourself the grief and dine somewhere else in Summerlin that appreciates your patronage. Good luck! A Summerlin mom and attorney. Cons: does not honor their own valid coupons more
