Certainly not the best option in town 11/23/2009

I am not sure if it can be called as a cult like one review said. I'd consider it as a non-denominational church. However, compared to other non-denominational churches that I have visited both in SLC and in the mid-west, i think this church is not strong in GOD's word. Their emphasis seems to be more on religion rather than faith, spirit led prayer and a clear, comprehensive understanding of the word. they even put down praying in tongues and getting any revelation from God during prayer. It might not be as spiritually dead as Lutheran, Episcopal churches etc., but not far behind, as it is very lousy and boring... there are lots of church programs though...some bible study related, a weekly lunch for newcomers, some related to watching some Christian movie on a weeknight, etc., but I am mainly interested in the teaching and the praise/worship; pastor seems to be a nice guy, but I found him take a dig at baptists, lutherans and some charismatic preachers like joel osteen in some sermons. in one sermon, I found it amusing, because he was accusing different sets of lutherans and baptists for fighting over some hot button issues, but this pastor himself was going on and on with his comments... seemed like double standards to me...my parents were raised lutheran and i myself had gone to several baptist churches... they are not that bad as he portrayed them... one word of caution though:- i read in a review and heard from some sources that they are linked to watchman fellowship from texas. and that scared the heck out of me, because I know that organization to be a very demeaning and notorious organization. get your facts before u decide to go there... Pros: centrally located, bookstore Cons: lousy praise & worship, not strong in the WORD more
