Store Manager is a cr00k and a liar 1/15/2009

Johnston & Murphy shoes are quality, value shoes -- at least their Aristocrat collection. However, I would STRONGLY recommend against visiting their Burlington Mall location, under any circumstances. Long story short, I brought my shoes in to ""Mike"" -- the store manager -- who assured me that they would be repaired correctly, including the divot in the foam comfort layer created by wearing the shoe beyond the soles. Instead of sending them to the corporate factory as I had asked, he had a local cobbler ""repair"" the shoe, but with no regard whatsoever to the comfort layer. I brought the shoes back several times but since Mike was not there I was told by the other associates there was nothing they could do. Upon finding him, Mike agreed that the repair was unacceptable and offered to *specifically* (AGAIN!) point out the divot. I do not know if it is due to Mike's incompetence, or that of the cobbler -- but the next time I got my shoes back they just had another layer of padding installed ON TOP OF the previous one -- meaning that not only was the divot still present (beneath the surface), but the shoes no longer fit because of the extra padding inside. Regardless of whether it was the cobbler's fault or not, this can all be traced back to Manager Mike, as he elected to ""fix"" the shoe internally, rather than send it to the factory as I had requested. Pros: Decent selection, good value (shoes >$150; the others are too cheaply made) Cons: extremely poorly knowledgeable salespeople -- they will lie to you if they don't know the answer. more
