I sent my wife to Charleston, SC four weeks ago in search of a home to rent for our family. The home she found was managed by Miler Properties. After they told her there was a $60 application fee I decided to talk to them personally. Since we had credit trouble I asked them if the application fee was refundable because if we were to be rejected then I would have to keep shelling out application fees. They informed me that they deal with credit problems all the time and that in the worst case scenario we might have to pay a double security deposit. So based on that we moved our family to Charleston. After we arrived the problems with Miler began. We spent the next three weeks staying in hotels at $70 per night and jumping through hoops for Miler but to no avail. Now they were singing a different tune. They couldn't get us a home and had no memory of what they had told us in the beginning. In the meantime my wife, our two infant boys, and I are stuck in Charleston (having already spent $2000 in hotels, food, and incidentals) without a place to live and much worse off than we were before we left Michigan.
