I had passed by Oh My Nappy Hair Salon a number of times while doing freelance work in the downtown Atlanta area. I have dreadlocks that scrape my lower back, and was looking for a good salon to go to for grooming. One day I decided to walk into the salon just to ask about an appointment, maybe chat with a hair specialist and get a business card. When I walked inside Oh My Nappy Hair Salon, I didn't see a receptionist. I did see a few stylists working on people's hair. A few of them looked up at me, but no one greeted me or anything. I smiled, but received no response. I decided to wait because I know how busy salons can get. But I did notice that there weren't that many people there. Then a man with dreads who seemed like a manager walked towards me and I thought I'd finally be acknowledged. Much to my surprise, he looked at me, turned away to give an order to another stylist, and walked out the front door. I was even more surprised to hear him throw back over his shoulder the comment, ""Going to lunch ya'll."" I waited a little longer. I was thinking ""surely someone will come and find out what I want at some point."" No one ever did. Not even a mere hello. Some of the women looked at me with rude expressions. They seemed to be afraid that I was going to ask for an immediate appointment or something. The place just exuded ""attitude."" It was wierd. This was about two years ago. Hopefully they have better customer service now.
