I expect a lot out of an engagement ring. The design my fiancee chose was gorgeous. But I did notice that the stone pattern on either side was not aligned (I couldn't stop looking at it, newly engaged and all:) It was a minor (2 mm) difference, but noticeable to me and my architect friends, who have an eye for details. Another thing was one of the stones from the pave setting fell off within the first 5 days. I brought the ring back in, and they said that there was no asymmetry. However, if I wanted it remade, they would have to send it to Hong Kong. I didn't want to be difficult, but I felt that the ring was something I would have the rest of my life. So I asked them to remake it; they weren't happy about it, but they did so. This time the ring was perfect, and so far no stones have fallen out. I think that the people there are knowledgeable, and my fiancee thought they were nice. But I do not feel comfortable going back to make another purchase. As for the stone falling out so quickly the first time, they told me that that was normal for that sort of setting. I asked another jeweler, and he said that wasn't necessarily true. Anyways, bottom line, I had to work extra hard for the ring that I wanted, and though the people there are knowledgeable, they're not going to fall over themselves to accommodate you. For such a big purchase, I expected something more. I'd give it fewer stars, but the workmanship on the ring the second time is really nice.
Pros: I'm sure there are jewelery there that are perfect as is. My fiancee said he got a good deal.
Cons: You'll be called ""particular"" if you want an imperfection fixed.
