First of all, there are several Pier 1 stores in LA, this one is particular is probably the largest and best one in terms of inventory. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. Pier 1 is most famous for the candles. I honestly can't figure out why because after buying them many times I have vowed never to do so again. They are expensive and not worth the price at all because the scents are not strong in most cases. The candles also ruined my cabinet because I stored them there and they extrude dye even when not lit, thus my cabinet now has a nice round berry colored stain on it. But other than that I have bought very practical items from there such as glass dessert plates and cloth napkins. The plates and stemware are heavy and rough. These are not like crystal or china of course but a good option if you want more color than your classic china or crystal stemware. They have unique merchandise that I have found nowhere else, hence their Import name is justified in my opinion. They pay attention to detail and because of that your average coaster is a work of art at Pier 1 and they have other unique decorative items. They also have excellent furniture pieces for modern tastes and such things as curtains. Some might say their prices are high but still lower than similar stores like "The Great Indoors." They do have major sales with real reductions that are always worth going to.
