This dojang is the real thing! 12/28/2008

I've studied several forms of martial arts for over 15 years; Ju Jitsu, Kempo, Judo and Karate, but I never had the opportunity to study Taekwondo. When I found this dojang, the Masters and Instructors were very welcoming and accommodating. I was a little anxious because the first thing they wanted me to do was to fill out a contact information form while all I wanted to do was to observe a class. (I?ve learned from previous experience that before beginning classes at any dojang, it is important to make sure that I feel confident that the level of instruction is going to be professional and authentic.) Of course I had a lot of questions, but I was concerned that because the Masters all looked young and spoke with thick Korean accents, I might not get enough information to determine if this dojang would be worth my efforts or offer the expertise I was seeking.\r \r After taking a free introductory class, I realized that my initial concerns were completely erroneous. Once my ear adjusted to their accents, I realized the Masters were not only proficient, but extremely dedicated. The Instructor I worked with was able to identify some of the bad habits I developed from my earlier training, and he was able to help me correct my technique. As a result, I decided to begin practicing Taekwondo here, and I am very glad I did. I?ve since learned that the Masters graduated from Korean colleges with majors in Taekwondo and served in the Korean Army before they began teaching; they just look young. They follow a well planned program created by the Grand Master and founded in the official Kukkiwon Taekwondo style. I really appreciate the instruction I receive at this dojang, and if you are looking for an authentic Taekwondo dojang, I highly recommend this place.\r \r Additionally, the school has a diverse group of friendly students and although the Masters are very dedicated and serious, at heart they are good-humored and enjoyable.\r Pros: Great Masters, Excellent program! Cons: Can't think of any. more
