Awful service detracts from decent food - go elsewhere 11/26/2008

This used to be my go-to Chinese place on the UES, but awful customer service will keep me from going back. I went out of my way to go back there after I moved downtown, as I no longer live or work anywhere near there. Physically at the takeout spot, ordered what I used to always get - the diced chicken with red and green peppers, saying and pointing to Number 30. I actually got two orders of it so I could have more left over. After daring the bus back home, I was about to dig in, and it turns out it was diced chicken with peanuts, a dish I never ordered and never liked. I called them up and let them know, and then a manager got on, and he remembered my order. He kept saying, ""Maybe it's my mistake, maybe it's yours."" I asked him what number 30 was, and he said it was the chicken with peppers, but kept going back to the idea that it was still possibly my mistake for ordering a dish I don't like. While he offered to give me credit, that didn't help me much as I'm 50 blocks away. If he wanted to really do the right thing he'd have delivered the right dish even though I'm beyond their zone. And saying it could have been anyone's mistake is a bonehead move. I'm giving them two stars instead of one since it's sti a good chicken dish, but not worth the hassle. If you llorder, confirm it twice, and double check it when it's delivered or you pick it up. If there's a mistake though, expect them to tell you it's yours. Pros: Great food, cheap, fast Cons: Delivery only, no scallion pancakes, cash only more
