I had previously left a very negative review and am updating to reflect what has happened. The reason I left such a negative review was that Hal Capps did not keep me updated on what was going on and I (not being able to contact him) thought I had lost my deposit. It would have been a 4 or 5 star if things had happened in a more timely manner. Well, he called 11/17/08, work started 11/19/08 and all the work will likely be done 11/25 or 11/26. The contractors that have been doing the work have all been great, and even Hal has been very helpful and calls frequently now! Work is not finished, but is going very well so far. As far as what happened prior to starting the job, I'm not exactly sure, but I get the sense that the industry is suffering and as such, Hal has been under a lot of stress (family medical issues too). Would I recommend Capps?...On work quality alone, yes. Overall, I think it would be a tentative/cautious yes because of the issues at the beginning. The concerns I had regarding him ripping me off...I'm not sure of what to make of the whole situation, but since the work was done, I guess I was wrong. I'll probably be getting new carpets in a few years...would I go back to capps? I'm not sure.
Pros: I got a great deal that A&M would NOT match
Cons: It took a while to get the work done
