The center of Blaine's entertainment district! 3/25/2007

Situated next door to the heart of Blaine's entertainment district - a grungy bar with karaoke on Saturday nights - this two story motel will give you newfound appreciation for safe, boring, chain hotels. Our non-smoking room smelled of cigarette smoke, and the smoke detector had been removed from the wall, because after all, who wants a pesky smoke detector beeping at you? The most interesting feature was a set of hand prints on the ceiling above the bed, which should have tipped us off for the night ahead.\r \r Blaine's nightlife likes the family mexican restaurant and bar, which shares the same parking lot as this motel. Patrons of the bar also are patrons of the motel, perhaps on a discounted rate - buy enough drinks for the ladies and you'll get a discount on the hourly rate at the motel. One woman serenaded the motel guests for over a half hour with her seagull impression. Our bed, or at least it's headboard, was prone to shaking in time with the neighbor's.\r \r But don't let that turn you down. Flushing the toilet provided soothing white noise, as jiggling the handle for upwards of five minutes wasn't quite sufficient to get it to stop flushing. Shampoo, conditioner, and a shower cap, previously thought to be standard items, were nowhere to be seen.\r \r One plus - I've spent more on a single meal for myself than the nightly rate at this motel.\r \r Note: We chose this motel based on it's proximity to train tracks, because we're considering moving to Blaine and wanted to know if the train would wake us at two in the morning. That was the least of our worries. Pros: Weekly and monthly rates if you like it that much Cons: They probably stay here, too. Cons, that is. more
