These days, very little in New York lasts more than a couple of years but Ty's goes on and on. It's a very different Christopher Street from the gay boulevard that existed when the bar opened, yet it's still fun to sit in the big windows and watch the passing crowd. The bartenders are great and friendly, especially the very popular energetic dynamo known as Gary. Go three times and by the fourth, he'll greet you by name. The patrons are friendly and varied and lots of tourists pour in all year long. You'd be welcome here if you're twenty two or seventy two. It is both friendly and cruisy. May it stay in place forever!
