Best Chinese food, hands down. 12/7/2007

This has the best Chinese food in town, no competition. Yes, the ambience is severely lacking (nonexistant, really), but the price you pay for the amount of food is worth it. Giant platters for under $10. You want good food? This is it. True, authentic, great Cantonese style Chinese food. I especially recommend the seafood dishes (shrimp or fish, fried, skewered, grilled, they have a great selection and I haven't ever been disappointed). My family usually comes here for relatives' birthdays and we do it up with 8 or 9 dishes of glorious, cholesterol-raising goodness (deep fried crabs, oysters, ribs, soup). It's a tradition now. The chef's here definitely know what they're doing, if you're from China or Hong Kong and want a reminder of home, this is the place. I won't lie, the service is not going to be good. But you're in a Chinese restaurant - unless you're sitting in an Americanized Asian restaurant like P.F. Chang's, you're not going to get especially stellar service. Jade Village is definitely something like a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. You're not here for service and you definitely shouldn't be here if you're on a date. But for a gathering of friends and family where you can chitchat while you're waiting those extra 5 minutes for the next tea refill and really really good (I'm talking out-of-the-ballpark, AMAZING) food, and a whole boatload of it, Jade Village is your best bet. Pros: Food. Cons: Service. more
