Verging on a dive, but without awesome dive-y food. 9/29/2006

Everyone at this small, cozy, almost-dive is cordial and smiling. However, they could use some extra help, I think. With only one server working this Saturday night, my party and I waited about 15 minutes to have our oders taken and much longer to receive our food. The food itself was pretty average, as far as Japanese food in SLC goes. I suppose that when I walk into a place that is a dive or almost a dive, I expect something more authentic than what I found; something with a bit of charm. The food was palatable and the miso soup and salad were indeed very good, but there was nothing special about Sakura in the least. If you are in the mood for Japanese food for a lunch break, try it. A romantic evening or a gourmet meal?? Not a chance. Pros: Easy parking. Good soup and salad. Cons: Long wait time due to lack of servers. Average main courses. more
