Roadhouse is what it is...A convenient neighborhood place to chow down. It's not Murphy's (doesn't try to be) and it's a gazillion times better than Majestic...no crackheads or beggars to step over. The breakfast can't be beat in VA HI or Midtown...In case no one noticed, they haven't been open for dinner in a couple of years...just breakfast and lunch. The minivan metaphor the editor used is not quite accurate. I'd call the roadhouse more of a Jeep. Sturdy and dependable...the same thing everytime. You go there to eat. They sell food. The food is good. If you want brie and mimosas, this ain't the place.
