One of Austin's best Sushi places! 6/15/2006

Evidently sushi in Austin is a recent phenom judging by the quality and prices at some locations but not here, the new owners (whom call it the Osaka Mansun) whom I got to know personally after my 7th visit to this establishment treat every customer as a family member (I am now passed my 17th visit). Service at the table or sushi bar is excellent! My tea glass is never empty (even after this many visits). Any time you visit and sit at the sushi bar, they are more than glad to give a free sample of something you might like to try. They only do this after discussing with you your tastes and current experience. I took my Mom there for a late Mother's Day dinner (since she does not live here) whom has very little experience with Sushi at all. I explained this ahead of time and it was suggested to get the Bento Box which has Salmon and Tuna Sushi. My mother not only loved it (evidently unaware that Sushi is not supposed to smell) but even tried a piece of Mackerel. Suffice to say, my mother now has some sort of clue about what good Sushi is. She cannot wait to come back to Austin to eat. I can personally recommmend to start with the 12 piece Tazuna Sushi for US $11.95 and the Aji (this is sashimi and a little pricey due to availability but well worth it!). It was good before the new owners but the new owners have brought it up a notch. This restaurant caters to the Sushi novice as well as the Sushi expert. The service is excellent and if you do have a problem with service, let them know and the problem is resolved. The only con is that they are closed on Sunday. Let me make a point in saying I am not normally so giving in reviews and am very picky where my hard-earned money is going. Pros: Great sushi! Great Service! Great variety! Treated Cons: Closed on Sundays :( more
