Visiting from out of town on a Saturday night in October 2006, my husband and I just happened to drive by 419West immediately past Tanglewood Mall. From the outside, we could not tell what we were in for. With very little wait, we were escorted to our table. We were dressed in jean and sweaters, but many people were in suits. We sat in the restaurant side, but there is a 'sports' bar area on the other side. \r

The food was great! My husband had a fillet with asparagus and mushrooms - he said it was one of the best ever. You could tell it was real Angus beef. I had a chicken penne pasta that was to die for. The flavors of garlic, mushrooms and roasted red peppers blended well with no taste overwhelming another. \r

The service was also terrific. Our waitress knew when to be at the table and when NOT to be at the table. She engaged in conversation when we included her and just did her job when my husband and I were talking. \r

She gave good recommendations when I was trying to choose between two entrees. I mentioned considering the chef's sorbet sampler for dessert. On her own, she came back and told me the flavors of the day (raspberry and mango). At dessert time, I mentioned the sorbet and the chocolate creme brulee. She recommended the creme brulee. She said you could get sorbet lots of places. She was right about the creme brulee. It was big enough for two and had a wonder taste and consistency. Not too rich. We ate the whole serving. It was amazing.\r

419West also has a great wine cellar. Our dinner/dessert and bottle of $30 wine came to about $100. Maybe not somewhere you go every week, but more than worth the cost for us. The only complaint - sometimes the cigarette smoke from the bar side made its way to our table. We'll go back again. Of course, by writing this, it will probably get busier and the no wait Saturdays will be over.
